Cary, NC ? Summer lull is over, citizens! Get ready for the autumn?s first big harvest of weekend events on the CaryCitizen Calendar.

Friday Sept 7

Lots happening on Friday including Teen Auditions for Cary Applause Theater, a lock-in at the Polar Ice House and a show at Cary Arts Center called War Bonds: Songs and Letters of WWII.

Check the Calendar for more details.

Saturday, Sept 8

The weekend starts with the Re-Use Rodeo, a way to get rid of stuff and give to charity.?This event is part of a nationwide initiative designed to keep waste out of the landfills and assist people in our community by giving a second life to gently used materials. It?s a one-stop drop! More details on the Calendar.

Then, zip over to the Western Wake Farmers Market for the first ever Potato Day. We?re talking all things spud, with unusual, exotic or heirloom-y varieties fresh from the fields. No doubt there will be tastings, recipes, entertainment and the usual abundance of fall produce.

Later in the day on Saturday, you?ll find musical events, wine and one of our favorite retailers having a very special 4-year celebration. It?s all on the?Calendar.

Saturday night, it?s RailHawks vs. San Antonio. Game on! San Antonio is leading the league (and have beat the Hawks twice), but the post-season is just a few games away. The RailHawks are sitting in fourth place in the league and look good to secure a playoff spot (top six teams move on to the post-season). Come out and cheer on the home team for what is sure to be a beautiful night in Cary.

Sunday, Sept 9

Oil up the wheels and come out on Sunday for Sk8 Cary Appreciation Day. Didn?t know Cary had a skate park? Now you do.?More info on the?Calendar.

Also Sunday, a free concert presented by Sister Cities of Cary remembering 9/11. Performers this year include the Celtic Mariners representing Canada, Raleigh Chinese Language School Dance representing Taiwan, Saxophrass brass representing France and the Inis Caride School of Irish Dance representing Ireland. The Cary Children?s Concert Choir will close out the event as always.?Find out more on the?Calendar.
